A Love Story in the Pines: Sam & Kennedy’s Big Day
Recently, we had the honor of hosting the wedding of Sam & Kennedy Smith—a day filled with love, laughter, and elegant simplicity. Kennedy envisioned a wedding that was “romantic and timeless”, and our team was thrilled to bring that vision to life. Every detail came together beautifully, creating an atmosphere that felt both intimate and breathtaking.
From the moment guests arrived, they were greeted with the serene East Texas charm that makes The Barn In The Pines such a special venue. Kennedy and her bridesmaids got ready in our Bridal Boudoir, a private sanctuary featuring a powder room, vintage-inspired vanity area, and plush lounge seating. One of her favorite features was the one-way window, allowing her to peek at arriving guests without being seen, building excitement for the ceremony ahead.
Across the venue, Sam and his groomsmen spent the morning in our Groom’s Lounge, enjoying the comfortable leather furnishings and even a quick game at the vintage-style table. With a fireplace warming the room and an expansive bar area leading outside, the guys had the perfect space to relax before the big moment.
Behind the Scenes: Crafting a Rustic Dream
Kennedy wanted a classic, elegant wedding that highlighted the beauty of The Barn In The Pines without overcomplicating the decor. The reception space was thoughtfully decorated with lush greenery, white floral arrangements, and candlelit centerpieces. The natural beauty of the venue’s white shiplap walls and wooden beams served as the perfect backdrop for a soft, romantic aesthetic. Gold accents throughout the table settings complemented the overall elegance of the evening.
Our in-house coordinator worked closely with Kennedy and her florist to create floral arrangements that enhanced both the ceremony and reception spaces. The arch at the ceremony site was adorned with stunning white blooms, while the reception featured classic greenery draped along the tables and sweetheart table.

A dream wedding is always a team effort, and we were lucky to work with some of the best. The Smiths chose Laurie Cordray Photography, who expertly captured every heartfelt moment. Their caterer, Tough Cookie Bakery, served a delicious meal that guests absolutely loved.
Their wedding cake, a semi-naked design adorned with fresh flowers, was beautifully crafted to match the theme. Meanwhile, the DJ kept the celebration lively, from the couple’s first dance to the last song of the night.
Saying “I Do” Under the Pines
The ceremony took place outdoors, with Sam and Kennedy exchanging vows beneath our rustic wooden arches at the end of a charming elevated walkway. With the tranquil pond behind them and the towering oak tree nearby, the setting was breathtaking. The late afternoon sun filtered through the pine trees, casting a golden glow over the ceremony as their loved ones looked on.
Kennedy walked down the aisle as soft instrumental music played in the background. When she met Sam at the altar, it was clear that this was the moment they had been waiting for. The newlyweds shared their first dance in the center of the reception space, surrounded by their loved ones. Guests joined in, filling the dance floor with laughter and celebration. As the evening continued, guests enjoyed the indoor-outdoor flow of the venue, stepping onto the covered patio for fresh air or gathering around the indoor fireplace to relax.
As the night came to a close, Kennedy and Sam made their way down the elevated walkway, where guests lined up with sparklers in hand, creating a magical send-off. Their beaming smiles lit up the night as they stepped into their next chapter together.
